Founded in 1999, the Campus Activity Board (CAB) was designed to provide programming opportunities for Maryville students. The Officer Board is made up of four executive officers and 7 committee chairs who plan events such as Fall Festival Week, on campus movies, Saturday night comedians, and so much more. They are overseen by Brian Gardner who is a staff member in the Student Involvement Office.

CAB events are conducted using the revenue collected from the student services fee paid by all students and every CAB event is open to Maryville students, with a majority of events being open to non-Maryville student guests as well. CAB has an office located in Donius University Center (DUC) 126 and can be contacted by e-mail at cab@maryville.edu or by phone 314-529-9205. For fall’s upcoming events visit CAB’s website. CAB is also on Facebook. Become a fan today to stay up to date on all the latest events!

Maryville Student Government, known as MSG, has been a part of Maryville culture since 1994. MSG’s goal is to improve campus life for all students and they have done so by bringing about free laundry, hammocks around campus, and recycling bins. MSG is divided into divisions including student concerns, financial affairs and student organizations, public relations and strategic planning and organizational development. For more information visit MSG’s website. MSG also has an office located in the DUC and can be reached at msg@maryville.edu or 314-529-9243.

Campus Crusade for Christ

Also known as Cru, Campus Crusade for Christ is an interdenominational Christian organization committed to helping to meet spiritual needs of college students. They accomplish their goal through weekly events such as the Source and Bible studies, conferences and retreats.

Keith Lovin Institute for Leadership and Values (KLILV)

KLILV is Maryville’s only comprehensive leadership development program. The goal of KLILV is to help you develop the leadership skills you will need in your future professional career. If you are one of the lucky 20 freshman inducted into the institute you will attend seminars and develop and practice skills in a safe environment with constructive feedback. Upon graduation you will have built your leadership skills, particpated in community service efforts, developed and practiced public speaking skills, interacted with university officials, built a strong network or contacts, and you just might have studied abroad!

Can’t Find What You’re Looking For Among Maryville’s 50+ Organizations?

As the semester closes, most campus organizations are taking strides towards next year. This is certainly true of Maryville Student Government, or MSG. As you may or may not have heard, they recently had their election for the 2011-12 school year.

Your new President will be Brady Griffith. This means that he will be the representative of the student body to the administration and staff. It also means he will lead MSG in making changes to our school to make life better and easier for all of our students. He is currently a freshman majoring in Organizational Leadership, and his hometown is Cedar Hills, Missouri. You may have seen Brady around campus quite a bit. He has been involved in many campus organizations. He is an active member in the Campus Activities Board, a University Seminar Leader and Peer Mentor for Saints Nation, a member of the Core Student Involvement team, a Bible study leader and emcee of the Source for Campus Crusade for Christ, MSG senator, Assistant Vice President of Public Relations, and now President for Maryville Student Government.

Brady has some big goals for MSG next year. His biggest aspiration is to have MSG be closer to our other organizations on campus. This way, they can promote MSG and help the students, while also helping make the various organizations more prominent on campus. He hopes that the rest of MSG will share in my vision for a more unified school.

George Vasilev was your pick to be the next Vice President of Financial Affairs and Student Organizations. It’s a long title, but means that he and his division will oversee the financial aspects of Student Government, such as the budget and the expenses. Their primary focus, however, is allocating money for all organizations on campus (besides CAB and RHA). George is currently a freshman, majoring in Criminal Justice. His goal is to graduate from St. Louis Police Academy, be a police officer here for a couple of years, and then go federal, either FBI or Secret Service.

Other than being involved with MSG, George will be the Cedar RA next year. It will be time consuming, but just like any Maryville student, George is confident that his time management skills will assist him. He would love to see the MSG budget raised next year in order to allocate more money to the organizations so that they may organize more events, providing more entertainment for Maryville students. He will continue to add to MSG, by being a constant catalyst for change, providing new ideas and additional point of view.

Steph Metter was voted as the Vice President of Strategic Planning and Organizational Development. Her position entails heading the Bash Committee, Weight-Loss Challenge, and Senator Mentor Program. On top of that, she also will do schedule planning, coordinate MSG events, and keep the office clean and organized. Steph is an only child from Columbia, Illinois, and is currently a sophomore Psychology/Administrative Business Major who is very active on campus. Want to learn something interesting about Steph? She has been known to make some pretty tasty scrambled eggs on occasion.

During next term, she would like to see better participation from the student body at MSG sponsored events. She would also like to make the BASH bigger and better than ever through a joint effort of the student body and MSG members. She is confident that she will add to MSG by using her experiences from other organizations to offer exceptional planning techniques which will lead to the strengthening of MSG events.

Hannah Pool is going to be the next Vice President of Public Relations. Her duties include entailing the advertising and promotional aspect of MSG. She is currently a freshman International Business major from Marion, Illinois. She has an older brother and two younger sisters and enjoys playing soccer and golf when she finds spare time. For this next year, she would like to see MSG continue to grow and become a greater influence on campus. A main goal is to make the experience of Maryville students the best it can be while continually striving to find better ways to represent the student voice. She hopes that she will be able to spread awareness about what MSG can do for the students so they will use MSG to its full capacity.

Corbin Salthouse earned the honors of being your next Vice President of Student Concerns. This is the link between the student body and the administration. He is currently a sophomore studying Biomedical Science. He is from right here in St. Louis, Missouri, and has three younger sisters and one brother. Random fun fact about Corbin: he used to be an avid online gamer. Other than that, you may possibly see Corbin as a member of the Maryville Roller Hockey Club next year. Next year in MSG, he would like to ensure all the senators are very well informed, which will promote better communication between MSG and the student body. By doing this, he hopes issues will be resolved quicker due to better communication. He will definitely be adding leadership and experience to a young executive board which is going to do a great job next year. With determined leaders like these, it is exciting to see just what the new school year will bring.
